There will also be opportunities to improve your skills on a secondary string instrument, and sessions on other topics of interest. Watch for more information soon! Tuition scholarships are available for teachers in their first three years’ of teaching, and for high school students who may be interested in a string teaching career.

Summer kids’ workshops: Along with the teachers’ workshop, ASU’s Herberger Community School for the Arts will offer workshops for students in grades 4-12, from June 22-26. Daily one-hour classes will be offered in beginning, intermediate, and advanced fiddling, and intermediate and advanced mariachi.

String Project Class Concert, Sunday, Dec. 14, 4:00 p.m., ASU Katzin Concert Hall.

Hayne Lee is student teaching in Fall 2008 with Anita Archer at Fremont Jr. High and Salk Elementary in Mesa; Dawn Weaver will student teach in the spring semester with Sara Duce, Greenfield Jr. High in Gilbert. Congratulations to these young teachers as they finish their degrees and join the wonderful string teaching profession! Five string education majors are preparing to student teach in 2008-09.
